What You Need To Know About Dynamics 365 for Talent

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Talent integrates various self-service activities such as employee performance, organisation structure, and hiring. Thanks to a set of various integrations and modules, the Talent capability allows HR functions to be integrated with the Microsoft ecosystem all throughout the employment lifecycle. We take a look at the different modules in Dynamics 365 for Talent.

Dynamics 365 for Talent Modules

Thanks to Talent’s modules running against the CDS (Common Data Service), other solutions that are part of the Dynamics 365 ecosystem (Sales, Operations, Finance, etc) can share data. This means that all that data can be used to build analytics, as well as allow groups or teams to collect data at different levels in tune with the organisation’s structure which is highly beneficial for compliance. Furthermore, with Microsoft’s acquisition of LinkedIn in 2016, the professional networking website and Talent are connected.

The Attract module also connects potential candidates that aren’t in the organization to Talent, by defining activities performed and milestones reached during the recruitment process. This includes the entire recruitment process from application through to final steps such as hiring and on-boarding.

The applicant doesn’t need to have an account, but instead it all works through email, with links to assessments sent through that way. When the applicant submits their answers the hiring manager can view results and subsequently, at any time after that both the candidate and the hiring manager can check the profile and see how they rank.

Users can also create and post job ads, search for candidates and streamline the interview process through this module. Once a candidate accepts an offer, the Talent’s Onboard module handles the pre-boarding and onboarding. This tool will act as a welcome guide to the new hire, giving them as much information needed from the very first day.

When an employee is settled in and has been there for a while, the company will want to hold a performance review- something which can be done by the Perform module. It’s basically a journal that tracks an employee’s activities throughout employment and can track performance in comparison to goals.

The Develop module can be used to manage the enhancement of an employee’s skills/expertise based on objectives and goals. SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals can be set by managers and employees in order to track them against key points in their journals. Training can be noted here as well, it can be associated with anything that will help to achieve a certain goal. Managers can see whether employees are up to date with training and also use Power BI to undertake a more complex analysis.

With Talent, all capabilities can be found in one single place.HR departments usually use a myriad of different tools for talent management, compensation and so on, but now with the new Dynamics everything is centralised. The whole employment lifecycle can just be managed from one single tool.

Will it Integrate?

Talent is part of Dynamics 365 ecosystem, which means it benefits from the whole app stack, including Microsoft Flow. Files in OneDrive or Box for example, can be made available in a unified work flow and integrated with Talent. The data is stored in Talent’s database, but is exposed through the CDS and the Common Data Model. This data can be viewed on mobile apps as well through PowerApps.

Users within the organisation can jump from program to program because they are all part of the same Active Directory system.
