The Right Choice: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Pricing and Licensing

The highly anticipated release of Microsoft Dynamics 365 has been and gone and with it, so has a new extensive licensing model arrived. Although the platform has simplified, the pricing/licensing model has not. We’ve put together a Dynamics 365 pricing and licensing guide detailing how the modules can work for you and your business.

1.Buying Options

There are three options when it comes to buying Dynamics 365:

Purchase per App

Businesses are no longer tied to buying the whole shebang. For many a single app is of interest and you have the ability to purchase and use that one app in this new platform. Apps can be purchased on an individual basis, however if you’re a business looking to use more than one in the future, this isn’t the right option for you.

Purchase by Plan

This option allows businesses to buy apps in groups as opposed to individually. The groups of apps are predetermined with this option and it’s most popular/useful for businesses that are looking for complete access. By taking advantage of this option businesses will be paying a single price for access to multiple apps.

Buying as a Team Member

Within Dynamics365, a “team member” is someone with limited access to apps. They are able to view and assess data within apps and have the power to make minor adjustments. When a “team member” requires any additional access, a request for a higher status needs to be made.

2. The Two Dynamics 365 Versions

The two editions that can be purchased on the platform are as follows: The Business Edition and The Enterprise Edition. Both of these plans offer the option of purchasing apps via the aforementioned options. The Business Edition is aimed at small-to-medium-sized businesses, while the Enterprise Edition is aimed at large businesses and corporations.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Edition

Plans in the Business Edition cost $50 per user per month. The plan gives access to every app on the platform and if you’re looking at buying individual apps, it comes to $40 per user per month for each app.

Apps you can choose from are:

  • Dynamics 365 for Sales
  • Dynamics 365 for Customer Service
  • Dynamics 365 for Marketing
  • Dynamics 365 for Financials

For purchases of the Business Edition in the Team Member pricing, each license will cost $5 per user/month.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition

The Enterprise Edition breaks down into two separate plans:

Plan1 consists of:

  • Sales
  • Customer Service
  • Project Services Automation
  • Field Services

Plan 2 consists of the aforementioned and:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations

In terms of cost, Plan 1 comes to $115 per user per month, while Plan 2 costs $210 per month. If looking to buy apps separately in this Edition, it costs $95 per user a month for each app. If the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations was bought separately it would cost $190 per user per month individually.

For purchases of the Enterprise Edition in the Team Member pricing, each license will cost $10 per user/month.

Bulk Buys Discounts

Microsoft offer a discount the more you buy and also offer an additional discount for charities, educational institutions and government agencies.
