Head of Software Development

I’m looking to speak with Heads of Software Development looking for a new challenge within a thriving business that’s been going from strength to strength. This is a hybrid role that will require you to work 2-3 days from their North West offices, with occasional travel to other offices in the UK when required.

The person they’re looking for is highly experienced and able to lead their software development and embedded system team. IoT, data analytics and embedded system technology are the basis of the division you’ll be leading.

You’ll need to have a strong technical background (.Net or Python) along with fantastic leadership and product management skills.

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

·       You’ll be the lead for two established development teams that support existing flagship products- you’ll be ensuring commercially sound roadmaps are defined for each product/lead growth of additional development capacity within team

·       Lead of embedded systems development team- responsible for expanding development capacity and ensuring that development skills and practices are aligned across 2 separate teams working on different sites

·       Establishing a new development team that can rebuild/advance on a new web technology stack (.Net based), two existing business critical applications that are approaching end-of-life on current platform

·       Fostering a culture of innovation/continuous improvement within the team

·       Overseeing the entire software development life cycle

·       Ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes

Your skills & experience:

·       Experience in a senior or leadership role in the software development industry

·       Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in web systems development in cloud-based environments (Microsoft Azure)

·       Experience as a developer in major web development stack (.Net or Python)

·       Project management skills following a structure methodology (Prince 2)

·       Technology architecture and design understanding across the stack

·       Preparation of business cases to justify technology projects
